Environmental Law

We work with individuals, communities, and grassroots organisations to protect Mauritius’ natural ecosystems, coastal integrity, and biodiversity. Our environmental law practice defends public rights against unlawful development, pollution, and regulatory failure — especially where livelihoods and cultural heritage are at stake.

Our services include:

Community Representation
Whistleblower Support
Public Interest Litigation
Legal Awareness & Advocacy

Community representation in environmental impact objections: We assist residents, fisherfolk, and civil society groups in challenging environmentally harmful developments. This includes preparing written objections, attending public consultations, and initiating legal proceedings when EIAs or public interests are ignored.

Assistance with environmental complaints and whistleblower protections: We provide support in reporting pollution, illegal land clearing, marine degradation, or industrial dumping. We also help whistleblowers and environmental defenders protect their rights when facing threats, retaliation, or silence from authorities.

Public interest litigation & judicial review: We take on cases that raise constitutional or administrative concerns — including poor enforcement, unlawful permits, or development approvals granted without consultation. We work closely with environmental NGOs to ensure state accountability and fair process.

Legal awareness & sustainability advocacy for NGOs, citizens & schools: We engage in community outreach, helping youth clubs, schools, and local initiatives understand environmental rights and legal tools. This includes simplified legal education sessions, drafting support for petitions, and guidance on sustainable development law.
